Maria Bartiromo’s unexpected departure from Fox News Media has raised immediate questions about where the veteran financial journalist could go next.
Fox announced this week that Bartiromo was leaving after more than 12 years with the company, ending a tenure that included several prominent programs across Fox News and Fox Business.
“Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media,” the network said in a brief statement before wishing her well in her “next chapter.”
Fox subsequently began removing Bartiromo’s name from its programming lineup. However, her attorney has strongly disputed reports characterizing the departure as a firing and challenged claims about the circumstances surrounding it.
As questions continue over how her time at Fox ended, a reputation-management expert has outlined several possible paths for Bartiromo—from joining another conservative network to accepting a position in the Trump administration.
Expert predicts Bartiromo could remain in conservative media
Scott Keever, CEO of Reputation Pro, told the Daily Express US that Bartiromo could move to another right-leaning outlet, depending on the terms of her Fox contract.
“There are several courses that Maria Bartiromo can follow,” Keever said. “She could, depending on her contract provisions, join a conservative/pro-Trump media outlet like Newsmax or One America.”
Such a move would allow Bartiromo to continue working in television while speaking to an audience familiar with her political and financial coverage.
Keever suggested that a transition to a mainstream news organization could be more difficult if reports about an alleged confidentiality issue prove accurate.
“Mainstream outlets would be leery of her due to her violating the company confidentiality clause of her contract,” he claimed.
No new employer or television project has been announced by Bartiromo.
A possible role inside the Trump administration
Keever also raised the possibility of Bartiromo moving from broadcasting into politics.
“She could join the Trump Administration and in many ways would be ideal as a replacement for Karoline Leavitt or serve in some other capacity,” he said. “Or join a PAC associated with Trump.”
Bartiromo has not publicly confirmed that she is considering an administration position, and the White House has not announced plans to bring her aboard.
Another possibility, according to Keever, would be for Bartiromo to temporarily step away from public life before beginning a different kind of project.
“She could also take a sabbatical and write an insider’s account of FOX News,” he said.
Despite the uncertainty, Keever predicted that Bartiromo would remain a visible public figure, declaring: “Regardless of which path she opts for, we have not seen the end of her.”
Disputed reports surround her departure
The precise reason for Bartiromo’s exit has not been officially disclosed by Fox News Media.
Status reported, citing unnamed sources, that the departure was allegedly connected to an incident involving President Donald Trump’s claims about the 2020 presidential election.
According to the report, Fox had instructed staff members not to lend credibility to those claims. Bartiromo was accused of sharing that internal guidance—and a network text message—with the White House after being questioned about why Fox was not covering Trump’s assertions.
Those allegations have not been publicly substantiated by Fox in the information provided.
Bartiromo’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, forcefully rejected accounts claiming that she had been fired.
“The irresponsible reports that have been published stating that Maria Bartiromo was fired or is no longer an employee of Fox are absolutely and unequivocally false,” Freedman said.
His statement appears to conflict directly with Fox’s announcement that she was “no longer with FOX News Media.”
Freedman also defended Bartiromo’s record at the company, describing her as one of the most dedicated journalists in the industry.
“For many years, Maria Bartiromo hosted three number-one-rated television shows on Fox channels,” he said. “She has been, without question, one of the hardest-working journalists throughout her award-winning career.”
Attorney warns that evidence will emerge
Freedman indicated that Bartiromo’s representatives were prepared to challenge the reports publicly or through legal action.
“Make no mistake. We have the receipts and witnesses, and they will come out whether through the courthouse or otherwise,” he said.
He accused those reporting that Bartiromo had been fired—and those publishing alleged details supporting that claim—of showing “a complete and utter reckless disregard for the truth.”
The competing statements leave unresolved questions about the terms of Bartiromo’s departure and whether the dispute could eventually move into a courtroom.
For now, Bartiromo has not revealed what she plans to do next. Her options, according to Keever, could include another conservative television network, a political organization connected to Trump, a position within the administration or a temporary break followed by a book about her years at Fox.
After more than a decade as one of the network’s most recognizable financial-news personalities, her next move is likely to receive significant attention—whichever direction she chooses.
