At Home With Baby Vivi: Karoline Leavitt Shares New Family Moment During Maternity Leave
Karoline Leavitt is offering another glimpse into family life following the arrival of her second child, sharing a quiet moment that quickly drew attention online.
The White House press secretary recently posted a photo to her Instagram Story showing her young son, Niko, affectionately leaning toward his newborn sister, Viviana, who was born on May 1. The image captured the toddler kissing the baby’s head while she rested beneath a gray blanket.
Leavitt captioned the post, “Kisses for baby sister!”

The image also highlighted small matching details between the siblings, with Niko wearing blue pajamas decorated with toy cars while baby Vivi appeared wrapped in pink clothing featuring a similar pattern. The newborn’s face was covered with a white heart for privacy.
A growing family during a historic White House role
The 28-year-old press secretary confirmed the birth publicly on May 7 through social media, introducing her daughter to followers with a heartfelt message about the family’s newest addition.
“She is here, and she is perfect,” Leavitt wrote while sharing a photo from the baby’s nursery.
She also said her family’s “hearts instantly exploded with love” after Vivi’s arrival and described her son as happily adapting to his new role as an older brother.

Leavitt added that she and her family were spending time together in what she described as a “blissful newborn bubble.” She also thanked supporters who reached out during her pregnancy and included the message, “God is Good.”
The White House official stepped away from briefing room duties on April 27, shortly before giving birth.
Leavitt became the youngest press secretary in White House history and the first to become pregnant while serving in the position.
Pregnancy announcement drew major attention
Leavitt first announced she was expecting another child in December while reflecting on the support she received from Donald Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
At the time, she called the pregnancy “the greatest Christmas gift” for herself and her husband, Nicholas Riccio.
In her original announcement, Leavitt revealed they were expecting a daughter and said she looked forward to seeing Niko become a big brother.

She also shared several family photographs, including images of Riccio with their son and another showing Niko hugging a teddy bear wearing a shirt that read, “I’m the big brother.”
“2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!” Leavitt wrote in the announcement.
