A soldier stationed overseas, far from home, was shocked and upset when he received a letter from his fiancée.
In the letter, she told him she had met someone else, wanted to end their engagement, and asked him to return her photograph.
The soldier sat there for a while, staring at the letter. At first, he felt hurt… then annoyed… and finally, a little mischievous.
The next day, he went around to his buddies in the barracks and asked if they had any spare photos of women—girlfriends, sisters, cousins, anyone. Soon enough, he had a whole stack of random pictures.
He gathered them all together, including his ex-fiancée’s photo, bundled them up, and mailed them back with a short note.
It read:
“I regret that I cannot remember which one you are. Please keep your photo and return the rest.”
