Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist from ‘Golden Bachelor’ are getting divorced

Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist, hailed as the Golden Bachelor’s first golden couple, are parting ways just three months following their televised union.

Gerry’s journey on The Golden Bachelor, a unique spin-off tracing the quest for love by the 72-year-old former restaurateur from Indiana amidst 22 eager contenders, culminated in his heartfelt proposal to Theresa, a 70-year-old financial expert from New Jersey, during the show’s November finale.

Their wedding, attended by numerous contestants including Susan Noles, who officiated the ceremony, was a spectacle of love and hope. However, the recent turn of events has brought about the decision to end their marriage, as shared by Gerry and Theresa in an interview with Good Morning America’s Juju Chang.

During the candid interview aired Friday morning, Gerry expressed, “Theresa and I have engaged in deep conversations and evaluated our circumstances, including our living arrangements. We mutually agreed that it’s time to part ways.”

Both Gerry and Theresa confirmed their decision to divorce when Juju sought clarification.

Reflecting on their bond, Gerry shared, “Our conversations revealed our unwavering commitment to our families. We believe that living separately will lead to each of us finding happiness.”

Theresa disclosed that they had explored potential homes in South Carolina and New Jersey but hadn’t reached a decision. Despite the divorce, they affirmed their enduring love and connection, evident as they held hands throughout the interview.

Gerry emphasized, “I still cherish this person. My love for her remains steadfast, and I wish her the best every day.”

Regarding speculations about Gerry’s past and career, Theresa clarified, “Gerry had been transparent about these matters before any reports surfaced, so they didn’t influence our decision.” Juju also confirmed the existence of a prenuptial agreement between the couple.

In offering advice to older individuals seeking love, Theresa encouraged, “Remain persistent. Maintain hope because we do.”

The narrative of Gerry and Theresa’s whirlwind romance, though now taking a different path, continues to inspire hope and resilience in the pursuit of love at any age.
