Both pilots identified after distress calls emerged
A family member confirmed Gregory’s identity to TMZ. Filgueiras’ family had identified her earlier Monday.
The young co-pilot grew up in Palm Beach County and earned her private pilot’s license at 17 while attending West Boca Raton High School. Her stepfather said she had accumulated approximately 1,300 flight hours.
Recordings of the crew’s exchanges with air traffic control captured reports of turbulence and ice before the emergency.

The crew requested permission to climb from 35,000 feet to 37,000 feet. Later, Filgueiras reported an overspeed condition and a rapid descent.
“We’re out of time,” she said during the final transmissions.
Gregory could be heard reciting part of the Lord’s Prayer, according to the reports.
The aircraft crashed around 12:50 p.m. while traveling from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas.
Investigators examine weather and possible breakup before impact
At Monday’s news conference, National Transportation Safety Board officials said severe weather was believed to have been a significant factor. They also described evidence suggesting the aircraft began breaking apart before reaching the ground.

“We do have some indication that the aircraft was breaking up before impact,” NTSB member Tom Chapman said. “We may find parts of the aircraft some distance away from the actual impact site.”
Dashcam footage showed the jet descending steeply before striking a residential street and erupting in flames.
The impact left a large crater, damaged nearby infrastructure and scattered debris across the neighborhood. The U.S. Sun reported that approximately 600 residents were evacuated, while the Daily Mail reported that a man on the ground suffered a leg injury.

Investigators have not announced a final cause. Suggestions involving “coffin corner,” a narrow margin between minimum and maximum safe speeds at high altitude, remain speculation rather than an established explanation.
The NTSB is leading the investigation into the flight’s final minutes.
