Not just Antonio Conte, Milan seriously interested in Julen Lopetegui

The Spaniard recently turned down a huge offer from Saudi Arabia, and Bayer Leverkusen is also interested in him if they lose Alonso this summer.

Milan continues to ponder Stefano Pioli‘s future. The club is exploring possible alternatives for the coaching position, and a new name from Spain has emerged: according to Relevo, the Rossoneri are seriously considering Julen Lopetegui. Lopetegui became available last summer after terminating his contract with Wolverhampton prematurely and recently turned down a significant offer from Saudi Arabia.

The Milan management values Lopetegui for his ability to work with highly promising young players while also prioritizing results. Bayer Leverkusen is also interested in him as they plan for the post-Xabi Alonso era.

Lopetegui’s accolades include winning two European youth championships with the Spanish national team (Under-19 in 2012 and Under-21 in 2013) and the UEFA Europa League with Sevilla in August 2020, defeating Antonio Conte’s Inter in the final.
