INSANE! Serie A makes €200M from international TV rights, the Premier League makes €2.2 Billion

AC Milan President Paolo Scaroni is ‘worried’ about the future of Serie A, especially considering the gap between Italy’s top flight and the Premier League for international TV rights.

Scaroni spoke at the ‘Sport Industry Talk’ organised in Milan by RCS on Tuesday. The Rossoneri President spoke about the future of the Italian Serie A and his clubs long-term plans, including their new club-owned stadium.

Milan are planning to build their new arena in the area of San Donato, moving away from the San Siro, a place the Rossoneri call home since 1926. “Staying in Milan would have been the best solution but we have already taken different avenues,” said Scaroni, as reported by ‘Gazzetta dello Sport’

TV RIGHTS

Scaroni emphasizes, “On our deal for the National TV rights, I think we did really well. On the other hand, for the international TV rights, we still cannot obtain what we want, nor we are near to where we want to be. We earn €200 million; the Premier League earns €2.2 billion. Every time I see legislative measures that, instead of facilitating our industry, make it poorer, I am really, really concerened. We must change the way we do things here”
