THE STUDY
The Football Observatory of the institute has indeed developed an index that combines various data collected from the Wyscout platform: essentially, it aims to combine the average of key passes per game with expected assists to create a ranking of players who have been creating the most chances since the season began.
Here, the list is dominated by Ousmane Dembélé, who leads with 2.36, despite still being goalless so far with Paris Saint-Germain, indicating his untapped potential. Behind him on the global podium are Leroy Sané of Bayern Munich and Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao. The CIES provides a total of 100 names from 33 different leagues, with the Premier League being the most represented thanks to its 16 players.
DIMARCO’S RECORD
There are two reasons that draws attention to the name of Dimarco: one related to his position and another to the league. The Inter wing, in fact, holds the 16th position in a ranking that is understandably dominated by offensive players: wingers, forwards, attacking midfielders, and so on.
Among defenders, no one in the world creates more opportunities than him (1.59 per game), he is followed by Kieran Trippier of Newcastle United (23rd place overall).
