Ex Inter striker Adriano spoke with another Inter ex Christian Vieri for the first episode of the ‘Bobo Vieri Talk Show‘:
Do you want to become a coach or a director?
“No, no, I have no plans for the world of football. I have nothing in mind regarding this; I’m doing other things.”
I thought you were going to Flamengo to help…
“No, no, I don’t have the thought of returning. I want to live outside of this world.”
What does it mean to play for Flamengo?
“It’s amazing to play there; the fans care a lot. There’s great responsibility on the players’ part, it’s an exciting thing to step onto the Maracanã field. It’s like playing at San Siro, you know what it means.”
Did you win a title there?
“2, then I like to celebrate (laughs).”
Do you remember the goal against Chievo?
“It’s true, it’s true, it was a great goal, I remember it.”
Do you remember the goal against Udinese? You looked like Maradona when you dribbled past everyone…
“I started from our half of the field, then I got lucky. It was beautiful.”
The most beautiful goal was with Real in a friendly.
“It was my first game at Inter; I had just arrived. I practiced free kicks with Seedorf in training, he knew I kicked hard, so he called me to take it. Materazzi wanted to take it, I kept quiet because I didn’t want to get involved (laughs).”
That’s when Adriano the Emperor was born.
“Yes.”
I haven’t seen anyone kick harder than you, maybe Batistuta…
“Roberto Carlos kicked harder.”
Do you follow Inter?
“Not always, but sometimes I watch. I’ve seen a cohesive group; I hope they can win the league.”
What do you think of Thuram?
“I haven’t seen him yet. Inter needs to have someone like him, like you or me.”
Lukaku?
“He’s strong.”
Lautaro is among the top in Europe.
“I know he plays very well; he’s a very intelligent player. And he’s still young, perfect for Inter.”
How did you get along with Ibrahimovic?
“Well, he understood me. He had his personality; he’s different from other players. With me, he always behaved well; before every game, we talked about what we could do in terms of movements.”
Ibra said you are among the strongest players he has ever played with.
“Yes, he sent me that message. I was happy for what he said because he was a great player.”
Have you heard from Martins lately?
“I haven’t heard from him; I heard Dacourt once among our former teammates.”
What do you think of Ancelotti as the Brazil national team coach?
“Brazil is not doing too well; we change too many players and can’t establish a fixed style of play. Ancelotti is a good coach for the national team; it would be beautiful to see him on our bench.”
How will you manage without Neymar for a year?
“It’s a mess; without him, you lose 50%. But there are other players. With him, at the 2026 World Cup, we will go to win.”
Any strong Brazilian forwards to highlight?
“For me, Gabigol would be good for the national team; he has experience compared to other young forwards. He can do very well.”
