Report from Spain: Real Madrid interested in José Mourinho to replace Carlo Ancelotti at the end of the season

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Portuguese coach, whose contract with Roma expires in June, is among the top candidates for the Real Madrid managerial position.

ROMA – A new romance could be blossoming between Real Madrid and José Mourinho. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Spanish club has identified the current Roma coach as the successor to Carlo Ancelotti, who will leave Real at the end of the season due to his commitment starting in June with the Brazilian national team.

“José Mourinho has reappeared on the Blancos’ list as one of the possible replacements for Ancelotti next season,” reads an article from the Catalan newspaper. “The Portuguese has made a strong comeback in the club’s hierarchy because the Real Madrid fanbase, who haven’t forgotten him.”

ANCELOTTI AND REAL MADRID’S MOVE

It is now almost certain that Mourinho will not renew his contract with Roma, set to expire on June 30, 2024, and Real Madrid is on alert.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the scenario could dramatically change if Real offers Ancelotti a contract extension, as the Emilian coach would not yet be formally tied to the Brazilian Football Federation. Mourinho has previously coached Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013.
