Genoa president Zangrillo: โ€œThey are ruining football. Milan scored an irregular goal, Maignanโ€™s tackle was โ€˜horrorโ€™.โ€

Genoa coach Gilardino didnโ€™t comment on the defeat; the president Zangrillo spoke instead: โ€œItโ€™s legitimate to ask questions.โ€

Genoa was defeated 0-1 at home by Milan, and Pulisicโ€™s goal was heavily contested. After the match, coach Alberto Gilardino did not speak, President Zagrillo addressed the microphones instead:

โ€œI have no anger, but there is a lot of regret and bitterness for the defeat. This is a game, and we know it, but it often gets spoiled when the small teams face the big ones. What happened in the last 5 minutes was seen by everyone. I have the utmost respect for the referees, whom I have always defended, but in this case it is legitimate to ask questions.โ€

โ€œIn cases of doubt, the decisions always seem to go against us. Pulisicโ€™s goal was clearly tainted by a handball, and then Maignan made an assassin-like tackle; weโ€™ll see how many suspension days theyโ€™ll give himโ€ฆ Sometimes, common sense should be applied to the game.โ€

โ€œWe are ruining the game like this,โ€ continued the Genoa president. โ€œI call for respect for the 35,000 fans in the stadium because what happened tonight is clear to everyone. When there is no certainty, we always suffer. We will overcome this episode as well.โ€

Now there is a break for Genoa: โ€œWe have a team that gives its best in every match and moves forward with confidence in its abilities. The true values will emerge in the end. Letโ€™s stop being hypocritical: in a world like ours where David and Goliath exist, David always wins.โ€
