Janice Dean shares a worrying hospital update months after leaving Fox News – Details

Janice Dean has shared a concerning health update after revealing that she spent the night in hospital for tests because she had not been feeling well.

The former Fox & Friends senior meteorologist, who stepped away from Fox News earlier this year after more than two decades with the network, opened up to followers in a series of emotional Instagram posts.

Dean said she felt overwhelmed and nervous during the hospital stay, but also described a small act of kindness from a nurse that left her in tears.

She has since returned home, though she said doctors do not yet have “solid answers” about why she has been feeling so unwell.

Janice says she spent the night in hospital

In her first update, Dean told followers that she had gone to hospital for tests after not feeling well and had to stay overnight.

“I went to the hospital for tests because I haven’t been feeling well,” she wrote. “Stayed overnight and was overwhelmed and nervous.”

She then shared the touching way a nurse named Marie helped her feel more comfortable. According to Dean, the nurse straightened the bedding, made sure she had a warm blanket and fresh pillow, and carefully wrote down how she was feeling.

Dean said the gesture brought her to tears.

“I started to cry as she tucked the blanket around my legs because it was such a simple but profound act of kindness,” she wrote. “I am grateful for Nurse Marie.”

In a later post from her hospital bed, Dean thanked those who had sent messages of support. She also apologized with humor to a woman who recognized her in the emergency room, writing that she had not been especially enthusiastic when the person came over to say hello.

The update drew an outpouring of concern from followers and familiar faces, with messages of love, prayers and wishes for her recovery filling the comments.

Back home, but still awaiting answers

Dean later shared a reassuring update that she had been discharged and was back home.

“Out of the hospital. Back at home,” she wrote.

However, she made clear that the reason for her symptoms remains uncertain.

“We don’t have any solid answers as to why I’m feeling so crummy,” Dean added, before sharing that she was grateful to be resting on the couch with Lola and receiving care from her sons.

The post brought relief to supporters who had been worried by the news of her hospital stay, while also showing that Dean’s recovery is still a work in progress.

A difficult year after leaving Fox News

The health update comes only months after Dean said goodbye to Fox News following a 22-year career at the network.

During her emotional farewell on Fox & Friends, Dean explained that the progression of her multiple sclerosis symptoms had made the demands of her early-morning schedule too difficult to continue. She said waking up around 2:30 a.m. had become especially challenging and that she and her doctors agreed it was time to put her health first.

Her final appearance brought her to tears as colleagues honored her work and her two sons watched from the audience.

Since then, Dean has offered followers glimpses of life beyond television, sharing cheerful selfies, a new hair update and moments with her husband, FDNY firefighter Sean Newman.

Now, her latest posts have brought a more worrying turn.

Janice Dean has not connected her hospital visit to multiple sclerosis, and she has not shared a diagnosis. For now, she is home, surrounded by family, and grateful for the support she has received.
