It will have a seating capacity of 70,000 and other functions, including the club’s museum, hotel facilities, entertainment, and commercial spaces.
AC Milan has taken its first major bureaucratic step towards the new stadium in San Donato. After months of technical meetings and feasibility studies, the Rossoneri club has submitted to the Municipality of San Donato Milanese the proposal for building a new stadium in the San Francesco area.
“it is important to clarify that this is just the beginning of the process. We are working intensively with consultants and we have provided significant financial resources for a thorough assessment.” Were the words of President Paolo Scaroni, who provided an update alongside Tim Romani, former president of CAA Icon and the project leader.
“There aren’t any agreements on the stadium’s appearance or possible naming rights yet, but several project features have been clarified. The stadium will have 70,000-seats with deeper stands and more spacious seating suitable for events, concerts, and other sports (such as American football and rugby).
Adjacent to the facility, there will be the new Casa Milan, the club store, a museum, a hotel, and an entertainment center, in line with the principles of Gerry Cardinale, who has previously collaborated with Romani on several other sports facilities in the USA.
The club’s envisioned timeline is for the project to be approved by spring 2025 at the latest, with construction starting in October of the same year, and Milan playing in the new facility starting from the 2028-29 season.
