Glowing Usha Vance appears to give sweet nod to her unborn baby’s gender as she shows off growing bump

Second Lady Usha Vance put her growing baby bump on display while sharing an exciting update about her Summer Reading Challenge — and her choice of outfit appeared to include a sweet nod to the newest member of the Vance family.

Usha, who is expecting her fourth child with Vice President JD Vance, appeared in a flowing baby-blue sleeveless dress decorated with a delicate white floral pattern. The couple have already confirmed that their baby, due in late July, is a boy.

While Usha did not say that her choice of blue was intentionally connected to her baby’s gender, the timing of the appearance offered a fitting touch as she prepares to welcome another son.

The Second Lady appeared in the new video to announce the launch of a prize website connected to her Summer Reading Challenge.

“Reading this summer comes with rewards!” Usha wrote alongside the video on Instagram.

She explained that children participating in the challenge will have an opportunity to receive special prizes after completing their reading goals.

“Reading is its own reward, but I’m excited to announce that kids who participate in my Summer Reading Challenge will also receive fun prizes this summer,” she said.

Children from kindergarten through eighth grade can participate by reading 12 books, tracking their progress and submitting a reflection before the September 4 deadline.

Those who complete the challenge can access rewards from participating organizations and companies, including Walmart, Dairy Queen, Wendy’s, Crayola and NASA. Available prizes include gift cards, markers, books, National Children’s Museum tickets, Freedom 250 memorabilia and an opportunity to enter a raffle for a White House visit.

Participants who finish the challenge will also receive a personalized certificate, a letter from the Second Lady and an America 250-themed bookmark created in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.

Another baby boy joining the Vance family

Away from her literacy initiative, Usha and JD are preparing for another major family milestone as they await the arrival of their fourth child — and third son — later this month.

The couple announced the pregnancy in January, confirming at the time that they were expecting a baby boy.

“We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy,” the family said in a statement.

“Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July.”

The couple are already parents to sons Ewan, nine, and Vivek, six, as well as their four-year-old daughter, Mirabel.

As she prepares to become a mother of four, Usha has continued her work as Second Lady, with childhood literacy emerging as one of her signature causes.

Her Storytime with the Second Lady podcast similarly encourages young children to embrace reading, and earlier this month, President Donald Trump joined her for a special Independence Day episode.

With her due date approaching, Usha’s latest appearance combined two important chapters of her life — her work encouraging children to read and the excitement surrounding the upcoming arrival of her baby boy.
