De Ketelaere ‘on fire’; after scoring again: “I like playing as a number 9, Gasperini trusts me.”

Charles De Ketelaere was one of the main protagonists in Atalanta’s victory against Rakow in the Europa League. The Belgian opened the scoring with a header and posed a threat on several occasions.

“I’m happy, the team played well,” explained the former Milan player who arrived in Bergamo this summer. “I scored an important goal, but I could have scored more. I feel good, but I want to do more,” he added. “I like playing as a number 9 at the center of the attack. Gasperini trusts me.”

This feeling was also confirmed by the Nerazzurri coach who said: “Charles is similar to Ilicic and has great room for improvement. He’s a versatile player who can also play as the central striker.”

“We created many chances and found three important points to start well in the Europa League,” continued the Belgian, analyzing the match and the result of their first Europa League match. “I started on the right, then played in the center. I can play in all positions and it’s different when you feel the support from the coach.”

“After Rakow, Gasperini’s team will face Sporting Lisbon in the next match of the Europa League, their direct opponent in the battle for the first position in the standings.”
