Charlie’s Angels exploded onto TV in 1976 as a groundbreaking blend of crime-solving action, glamorous style, and female empowerment.
The hit ABC series followed three sharp, fearless private investigators: Sabrina Duncan (Kate Jackson), Kelly Garrett (Jaclyn Smith), and later Kris Munroe (Cheryl Ladd) who took down crooks for the unseen Charlie Townsend while delivering plenty of 1970s flair, bikinis, and banter. It quickly became a cultural phenomenon, proving women could kick butt and look fabulous doing it.
In the third-season episode “Pom Pom Angels,” which aired in 1978, a classic throwback scene captures that playful spirit perfectly. The Angels, already dressed for an undercover case that called for swimsuits, lounge poolside in bikinis when Charlie suddenly seems ready to pull the plug on the assignment. Kris fires back with the unforgettable line, “He can’t lead us into heaven and then just pull the plug!”
