Pam Bondi breaks silence after removal as attorney general as new details emerge about Trump’s final message

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi has spoken out after her removal from the role, addressing her departure while new reporting sheds light on what happened behind the scenes in the final hours.

President Trump gave brutal four-word message to Pam Bondi the day before firing her as attorney general

According to The Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump personally informed Bondi that her time in office was over during a private conversation the day before the announcement, telling her: “I think it’s time.” The decision was made public shortly after, with Trump confirming she would transition to a role in the private sector.

In a statement shared following the announcement, Trump praised Bondi’s time in office, calling her a “Great American Patriot” and highlighting what he described as a significant drop in crime during her tenure. He also confirmed that Todd Blanche would step in as Acting Attorney General.

Bondi‘s Response

In her response, Bondi spoke directly about her departure, outlining her next steps and reflecting on her time leading the Department of Justice.

“Over the next month I will be working tirelessly to transition the office of Attorney General to the amazing Todd Blanche before moving to an important private sector role I am thrilled about, and where I will continue fighting for President Trump and this Administration,” she said.

“Leading President Trump’s historic and highly successful efforts to make America safer and more secure has been the honor of a lifetime, and easily the most consequential first year of the Department of Justice in American history.”

She also pointed to what she described as key outcomes during her tenure, adding: “Since February 2025, we have secured the lowest murder rate in 125 years, secured first-ever terrorism convictions against members of Antifa, shattered domestic and transnational gangs across the country, taken custody of more than 90 key cartel figures, and won 24 favorable rulings at the Supreme Court.”

“I remain eternally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to Make America Safe Again.”

Final weeks marked by scrutiny and internal pressure

Bondi’s exit follows a period of mounting criticism and legal setbacks that placed her leadership under increasing pressure.

She faced scrutiny over the Department of Justice’s handling of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, with lawmakers accusing officials of withholding key information. During a tense exchange, Bondi maintained that there was no evidence of wrongdoing by Trump, while critics pointed to claims contained within the files.

With Bondi stepping aside, the Department of Justice is now entering a transition period under new leadership.

Blanche is set to lead the department on an acting basis, with Bondi confirming she will assist in the handover process over the coming weeks.

Her departure marks the second cabinet-level exit in a short span, following the earlier removal of former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
