A look inside Ivana Trump’s lavish New York home that just got sold for nearly half the original sale price

The longtime New York residence of Ivana Trump has officially changed hands, closing a chapter on a property closely tied to her life and legacy.

The Upper East Side townhouse where Ivana Trump lived until her death in 2022 has sold for $14 million after remaining on the market for more than three years, according to the Wall Street Journal.

A Lengthy Sale at a Reduced Price

The Manhattan property was first listed for $26.5 million just four months after Ivana’s death. Over time, the asking price was reduced multiple times before a buyer was secured at nearly half of the original listing.

Adam Modlin, who handled the deal, told the Wall Street Journal that he represented both parties in the transaction.

Ivana Trump originally purchased the five-bedroom, five-bathroom townhouse in October 1992 for $2.5 million, making the final sale price a significant shift from its initial listing.

Located between Fifth and Madison avenues, the limestone residence spans approximately 8,725 square feet and stretches across five stories.

Inside the Distinctive Townhouse

The home became known for its bold and highly personalized interior design. The Wall Street Journal described the décor as maximalist, with elaborate details throughout the property.

Among its features are two formal entertaining rooms and a primary bedroom, while the kitchen layout stands out for its unconventional design. Instead of a full-sized kitchen, the home includes two smaller galley-style cooking areas, reflecting Ivana’s own remarks that she did not spend much time cooking.

One dining space is adorned extensively in gold tones, from the furnishings to the walls, and is illuminated by a crystal chandelier reflected through multiple mirrors.

A winding staircase connects all five floors, leading to upper levels decorated with red carpeting and patterned walls in red and gold. One landing area also displays a watercolor image of a garden.

Eric Trump previously described the home to the Wall Street Journal in 2022 as filled with “style and elegance,” adding that his mother was deeply attached to the property. “My mom absolutely loved that house,” he said. “It was the last possession in the world she would ever have gotten rid of.”

Remembering Ivana Trump

Ivana Trump died in 2022 at the age of 73. Authorities determined that her death was accidental, caused by blunt impact injuries to her torso after a fall on the staircase inside the home.

The New York City Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the findings in a statement at the time, concluding the cause of death was accidental.

She was the mother of Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, and Eric Trump, whom she shared with Donald Trump. The couple divorced in 1992.

Following her passing, Ivanka Trump shared a tribute on Instagram, writing, “Heartbroken by the passing of my mother… She lived life to the fullest — never forgoing an opportunity to laugh and dance.”

Donald Trump also reflected on her life, calling her “a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life.”

The sale of the townhouse marks the end of an era for a residence that remained deeply personal to Ivana Trump until her final days.
