DONE DEAL! Montella says YES, he will be Turkey’s new national team head coach

Vincenzo Montella set to become the new Turkish national team coach. An agreement has been reached. The coach was available after his successful two-year tenure with Adana Demirspor.

According to Sky Sport Vincenzo Montella will be the new head coach of the Turkish national team. This marks his first-ever role as the head coach of a national team for the 49-year-old Italian coach, who became available after an excellent two-year stint with Adana Demirspor in Turkey.

Montella arrived in Istanbul today with his staff, where he signed a contract with the Turkish Federation for the next three years, with a focus on Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup.

He replaces German coach Stefan Kuntz, who had been in charge of the national team for the past two years. Montella will be officially presented tomorrow, Thursday, September 21, at 2 PM local time.

On the road to the European Championship, Turkey is currently at the top of Group D alongside Croatia, both with 10 points and a goal difference of +3 over Wales and Armenia.

However, in their last match, they only managed to secure a draw against Armenia in the closing stages in Eskisehir. Montella will lead Turkey in the upcoming crucial matches against Croatia and Latvia.
