HGTV personality Drew Scott has revealed a devastating loss within his family, sharing that his wife Linda Phan’s mother has passed away.
The 47-year-old television host posted an emotional tribute on Instagram, describing Linda’s mother as “one of the most beautiful, kind and selfless people this planet has ever seen.” He added that his heart was broken and said she was taken “far too soon.”
In his message, Scott thanked her for the joy she brought into their lives, recalling her infectious laugh and the late nights they spent playing her favorite game. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss and acknowledged feeling powerless while trying to support Linda and her relatives during this time.

“My heart is broken. We have lost one of the most beautiful, kind and selfless people this planet has ever seen. Linda’s mom is truly one of a kind and was taken from us far too soon.
Thank you Habu for bringing so much light to our lives. Your laugh was infectious and I will always remember our late nights playing your favorite game
I feel helpless in trying to comfort Linda and her family but know memories of all the beautiful times with Habu will live on with us forever,” Scott wrote.
He also reflected on her devotion to her grandchildren, noting how much she meant to all 10 of them. In a particularly heartfelt passage, Scott shared the pain of knowing she will not be present to watch his two children, Parker and Piper, grow up.

The post included a collection of family photographs spanning several years, capturing moments of warmth and closeness.
Messages of support quickly followed. Scott’s twin brother and co-host, Jonathan Scott, described her as “a loving soul through and through.” Actress Viola Davis offered her condolences, while singer Leona Lewis shared prayers for the family. Canadian artist Michael Bublé also extended his sympathies, writing that his family was sending love.
Professional milestones continue amid network changes
Scott and Phan’s relationship began in 2010. They became engaged in 2016, and their wedding was featured in the 2018 TLC special Property Brothers: Linda and Drew Say I Do. The couple welcomed their son Parker in May 2022 and their daughter Piper in May 2024. Both children were conceived through IVF following fertility challenges.

The family’s loss comes as HGTV prepares to debut a new series featuring the Scott brothers. Titled Property Brothers: Under Pressure, the show is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, March 15.
According to the network’s synopsis, the program will follow clients navigating competitive housing markets and financial pressures, with Drew and Jonathan delivering budget-conscious renovations after home purchases are secured.
HGTV’s announcement arrives after a period of programming changes at the network. In comments previously reported by the Daily Mail, a senior source said financial underperformance prompted significant cancellations. “We had to stop the bleeding,” the source stated, describing the cuts as calculated decisions to address revenue concerns.
For now, however, the focus remains on family.
Scott’s tribute underscores a period of profound grief, as he and Linda Phan lean on cherished memories and public support while honoring a woman he described as truly one of a kind.
