Two lifelong friends in their 90s had always loved playing women’s softball. When one of them, Rose, became very ill, her friend Barb stayed by her side every day.
One afternoon Barb said, “Rose, we’ve played softball together our whole lives. When you get to heaven, can you check if they play softball up there?”
Rose smiled and promised she would.
Soon after, Rose passed away.
A few nights later, Barb had a dream. Rose appeared to her, glowing and happy.
“Barb,” Rose said, “I have good news and bad news.”
“Tell me the good news first,” Barb said.
“The good news is, they absolutely have women’s softball in heaven. The fields are beautiful, the weather is perfect, and the teams are amazing.”
“That’s wonderful!” Barb said. “So what’s the bad news?”
Rose smiled gently.
“You’re pitching next Tuesday.”
