Lara Trump has shared heartbreaking news with her followers, revealing the loss of a cherished member of her family.
On Wednesday, February 18, the 43-year-old wife of Eric Trump announced on Instagram that her longtime pet, Charlie, had passed away. In a deeply personal message, she reflected on the bond she shared with the beagle, who had been part of her life for 15 years.
A farewell to her “first baby”
“A piece of my heart broke today that will never heal,” Lara wrote in her tribute. She described Charlie as her “first baby” and remembered him as “the world’s best snuggler” and a playful thief of hotdogs and turkey legs.
According to her post, Charlie had been a constant presence through major milestones, including moves, career changes, the birth of two children, and three election cycles. “We loved you with everything we had for every moment we had you,” she wrote, thanking him for choosing their family. She added that there would “never be another one like you,” affectionately calling him “Cornchips.”

The Instagram tribute included a series of photos showing Charlie alongside Lara, her husband Eric Trump, their children, and other pets.
Supporters quickly filled the comment section with condolences. One follower wrote, “Omg I’m so sorry. I know how much he meant to you. God bless. RIP Charlie. Praying for all of you.” Another added, “I’m so sorry and saddened to read this post, Laura! I know how important he was to you.” Others described Charlie as lucky to have been so loved and offered prayers for the family.
The announcement comes shortly after Lara made headlines for criticizing Bruce Springsteen’s anti-ICE song and following her recent claim that President Donald Trump has allegedly prepared a speech related to extraterrestrial life and spacecraft.
For Lara Trump and her family, however, this week’s focus was not on politics, but on the loss of a loyal companion who had stood beside them for more than a decade.
