Michelle Obama reveals hilarious marriage ‘deal’ with Barack, and why she’s living life on her terms

Michelle Obama is done playing by the rules, unless they’re her rules.

The former First Lady just spilled the tea on her marriage, her mindset, and her no-nonsense approach to internet trolls, and yes, Barack still knows who’s boss at home.

From a savage one-sided teasing pact to Amy Poehler’s viral drool confession, Michelle’s recent podcast tour is pure gold, and fans can’t get enough.

“I Can Tease You — But You Can’t Tease Me”

Appearing on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, Michelle let listeners in on the very first deal she made with her husband, and it’s both hilarious and genius.

“We have a deal, Barack and I, and it started very early,” Michelle said. “It’s like, ‘I can tease you, but you cannot tease me.’”

And she means it.
When the former President dares to crack a joke back, she shuts him down instantly: “None of that,” she says with a smirk.

At home, Michelle says Barack is totally outnumbered.

“When me, Malia, and Sasha are together, he doesn’t stand a chance,” she laughed. “We mercilessly go after him. Teasing is our love language.”

Blocking Out the Trolls — Literally

While the Obama household runs on laughter, Michelle isn’t laughing when it comes to public criticism, she’s tuned it out entirely.

At SXSW, Michelle opened up about the relentless hate she and Barack faced, from birther conspiracies to attacks on their patriotism.

Her coping strategy?

“I don’t think I’ve ever once looked at a comment section, period.”

She’s passed that same advice to Malia and Sasha: Live your life, not through likes, comments, or trolls.

Michelle Unleashed: “It’s Whatever I Want”

With politics behind her and the kids all grown up, Michelle is finally putting herself first and loving every second of it.

On Sophia Bush’s Work in Progress podcast, Michelle was refreshingly blunt about her new outlook:

“Man, it is whatever I want, Sophia. It’s whatever I want.”

She said for years, it was easy to say no to things, “I’m a mom,” “I’m First Lady,” “I’m busy.” But now?

“I look at my calendar and I choose me. Not what I had to do. Not what other people expected. Me.”

The Drool Heard Round TikTok

Let’s talk about that moment.
During their Good Hang chat, Amy Poehler recounted the time Michelle guest-starred on Parks and Recreation and totally broke her brain.

“I full-on drooled during my line,” Poehler confessed. “Do you not remember? I’m so glad you don’t remember.”

Michelle, laughing, played along:

“Did I say something about it? Did I notice the drool?”

Poehler praised her cool-as-ice reaction:

“You just looked like, ‘Maybe this is a choice.’”

The moment went viral on TikTok, racking up thousands of comments like:

“I’m so glad you don’t remember — reminds her in full detail 😂”

Even Michelle’s team joined in, posting from her @TheMichelleObamaPod:

“Drool is the highest form of compliment.”

Book Tours, Besties, and Big Energy

Michelle’s media tour didn’t stop with Amy. She also hosted Tina Knowles, yes, Beyoncé’s mom, at the MGM National Harbor for the launch of Tina’s memoir Matriarch.

From podcast punchlines to heartfelt book tour convos, Michelle is in her no-pressure, no-apologies era, and fans are obsessed.

Michelle’s New Motto? Joy. Humor. Freedom.

Whether she’s roasting Barack, ignoring haters, or bonding with icons, Michelle Obama is doing life exactly how she wants.

And if it involves a little drool and a lot of laughter?

Even better.
