The Belgian forward revealed his imminent arrival in the “giallorosso” team during a youth tournament in Boom.
Now the official confirmation comes directly from him, Romelu Lukaku said: “I’m a bit nervous, but tomorrow I’m going to Rome to sign the contract.”
The Belgian giant was intercepted in Bloom, a neighborhood in Brussels, where he was attending a match in a tournament involving his son, who plays for Anderlecht.
Lukaku posed for selfies and gave autographs, and he uttered this sentence when asked about his future: “I’m nervous, tomorrow I’m going to Rome to sign.” In this context, “nervous” likely means anxious, almost eager to arrive as soon as possible.
While the Friedkin (Roma’s president) and Chelsea continue to negotiate in London, the confirmation comes directly from Belgium. Lukaku will be a new player for Roma and will work with Mourinho for the third time in his career, after Chelsea and Manchester United.
In London, they are finalizing the last details, including the cost of the loan and the amount of the salary the teams will pay. Roma, cannot pay beyond 8 million euros. It remains to be seen whether Lukaku will accept Roma’s reduced offer or if Chelsea will cover some remaining part to reach the current 11 million wage.
