LeBron James celebrated his 40th birthday in a special way, sharing part of the day with his Los Angeles Lakers teammates.
During Monday’s practice session, LeBron’s eldest son, Bronny, joined the Lakers rookies in delivering a heartfelt rendition of “Happy Birthday” to the NBA superstar. The team lined up Bronny alongside rookies Dalton Knecht, Quincy Olivari, and Armel Traore for the performance.
Bronny and Knecht each held microphones, while Traore added a fun touch by carrying a speaker on his shoulder. The rest of the Lakers roster stood behind LeBron, cheering and enjoying the moment. LeBron, beaming with joy, gave a loud round of applause for the effort and leaned in to blow out the candles on a birthday cake prepared by the team.
Despite turning 40, James continues to defy age, thriving in his 22nd NBA season. He remains a key player for the Lakers, proving his endurance and skill on the court. Notably, LeBron is the oldest active player in the league.
James has helped the Lakers to an 18-13 record in 2024/25, which is good for fifth in the Western Conference. Their next game? A home game against none other than LeBron’s hometown Cavaliers, who boast the NBA’s best record at 27-4.
As the year wraps up, LeBron’s first game as a 40-year-old will be a meaningful one. On Tuesday, Dec. 31, the Lakers will face the Cleveland Cavaliers—the team where his storied NBA journey began—marking an emotional and full-circle moment to close out 2024.
