Taylor Swift stirred up a bit of online chatter among fans recently after skipping the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) to cheer on her boyfriend, NFL star Travis Kelce, at his Kansas City Chiefs game.
Swift had a strong presence at the EMAs, securing four wins out of her seven nominations. However, instead of attending in person, she shared a prerecorded acceptance speech for her Best Video win, which she received alongside Post Malone.
In the video message, Swift expressed her disappointment at missing the event. โHey guys, itโs Taylor. I am coming to you from the Eras Tour. Iโm so sad that I canโt be with you tonight, but thank you so much for these amazing awards,โ she said.
โThe fact that you have honored the tour, the album, and everything with the video this year is just unbelievable. Thank you to the fans for voting on this. Youโre the reason any great thing happens to me, and I know it every single day.โ
Swift also took a moment to reminisce about her time performing in Europe, saying, โI had the best time touring in Europe this summer, so itโs just wonderful for you to do this.โ
Although she voiced her regret about missing the ceremony, fans quickly pieced together that Swift was in Kansas City, supporting Kelce as the Chiefs narrowly defeated the Denver Broncos with a score of 16-14. Her spirited presence in the stands became another highlight of the game, where Kelce made history by matching Tony Gonzalezโs franchise record for touchdown receptions.
Fans are call the megastar a ‘liar’
Fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Swift’s decision, with some playfully questioning her priorities.
One X user joked, “No, I get her โ she deserves rest during her break, but lying on international TV even though people will know where she is, is hilarious.” Another chimed in, saying, โโIโm so sad I canโt be with you tonightโ โ THIS LIAR.โ
As Swiftโs Eras Tour heads into its next leg in Toronto, wrapping up in Vancouver in December, fans seem to be enjoying her mix of music milestones and personal life moments, cheering her on as both a performer and an avid supporter.
