A little boy notices an earthworm struggling to get back into its hole and says to his grandfather, “I bet I can put that worm back in that hole.” The grandfather, skeptical, replies, “I’ll bet you five dollars you can’t. It’s too wiggly and limp to fit back in that little hole.”
Eager to prove him wrong, the boy runs inside the house and returns with a can of hair spray. He sprays the worm until it becomes straight and stiff as a board.
Successfully, the boy places the worm back into the hole. Impressed, the grandfather hands the boy five dollars and runs back to the house.
Thirty minutes later, the grandfather reappears and gives the boy another five dollars. Surprised, the boy says, “Grandpa, you already gave me five dollars.” The grandfather smiles and responds, “I know. That second five is from your Grandma.”
