Zilliacus: “Zhang wants to sell. Me and Al Thani would create something great for the fans”

Interviewed by the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, the entrepreneur spoke again about the potential acquisition of Inter.

Thomas Zilliacus who had previously made an offer for Manchester United, is now interested in the purchase of Inter. The Finnish entrepreneur has never hidden his desire to and reiterated it in an interview with the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.

Zilliacus reports that, as far as he knows, there is no offer from Investcorp. “Zhang wants to sell the club. The news about the Investcorp offer is not true. As far as I know, It’s all made up.”

According to Zilliacus, three funds have submitted their offers previously and then he added: “After those offers, I don’t believe any other offers were submitted.” According to his estimates, the final purchase price will be approximately €1 billion.

The entrepreneur claims to have informed the group of investors he represents about his willingness to purchase Inter in the spring. In July, he submitted a purchase offer for the Nerazzurri club as a representative of the XXI Century Football Capital fund. “The owner wants to sell the club to someone who is genuinely committed to building and growing it,” says Zilliacus.

“Steven Zhang has been in Milan since 2016. He told me that he was in America when his father called him on his 26th birthday and said he would give him Inter, and he would move to Milan immediately. Before that, he had never been to a football match. The combination of my companies’ services and Al Thani’s capital would create an interesting future for the Inter fans.”
