Zapata deal is off, Roma dreams of Lukaku. There is only one way to see him in ‘Giallorosso’

After turning down the offers from Araby, the Belgian needs to find a team before the end of the transfer window. His arrival in the capital could only be materialized in one way.

With just 8 days left in this transfer window, AS Roma are still in search for a new striker, to complete the squad for Josรฉ Mourinho.

In the last few hours, it seemed like the Giallorossi were very close to acquiring Duvan Zapata from Atalanta, with his agent flying from Rome to Bergamo to finish the deal.

However, the Atalanta coach stopped everything. After Bilal Tourรฉ‘s injury (The second most expensive signing in Serie A this season) Gasperini is no longer convinced to let the Colombian leave.

Now the possibility of seeing Romelu Lukaku, on the other hand, is still alive.

The negotiations for the Belgian remain quite complicated. A loan operation is the only way Roma could afford the player, but this formula doesn’t convince Chelsea, who have insisted on selling the player on a permanent basis.

THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO BRING LUKAKU

At Chelsea, Lukaku earns โ‚ฌ12m per year, a significant amount that is simply a bit too much for the Giallorossi club.

As reported by As Roma Data, only with his salary added, Roma would have a negative balance of -17 Million compared to the annual cost of the salaries in the last season 22/23.

Additionally, the Belgian cis open to reduce his salary to 8.5 million euros (the same amount paid by Inter last year).

Thiago Pinto and Roma could try to unlock the situation with a costly loan (the same formula used by Inter last season), but at the moment, this notion is far from becoming a real negotiation, parties are far from any agreement while the London club wants to offload the player on a permanent basis.

What is certain is that for an operation totaling over โ‚ฌ50m million, Roma’s management will have to seek an approval from the Friedkin family (approval that was not granted for the Alvaro Morata deal previously).
