Prince William is increasingly being asked about the health of the Princess of Wales at public events, as she hasn’t been seen at any official gatherings since December 2023.
Since the beginning of Kate Middleton’s health crisis, Prince William has not revealed many details about her condition.
The Princess of Wales underwent surgery in January, and in March, she announced that she had been diagnosed with cancer and that her medical team recommended “preventive chemotherapy.”
The last time she was seen at a public event was in December last year, causing concern and curiosity among the public. When asked about her, Prince William usually gives a brief response and changes the subject.
Yesterday, he attended the 80th anniversary of D-Day in Portsmouth with his father, King Charles III, and his stepmother, Queen Camilla. On this occasion, he made an exception and mentioned his wife.
A citizen asked Prince William, “Is Kate doing better?” and he responded affirmatively.
“Yes, and she would love to be here today,” said Prince William.
He also mentioned that Kate’s grandmother, Valerie Glassborow, worked at a spy base during World War II, the same one where Alan Turing deciphered the Enigma used by the Nazis to exchange secret messages.
“I reminded everyone that her grandmother served at Bletchley Park,” noted Prince William. “So, she had a lot in common with the women who were here at Bletchley.”
What’s happening with Kate Middleton?
Let’s recap: On March 22, Kate Middleton released a video statement where she spoke about her condition.
“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at that time, it was believed that my condition was not cancerous. The surgery was successful, but post-operative tests showed that cancer was present. My medical team suggested preventive chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of those treatments,” explained Kate.
She also mentioned that her husband’s support has been invaluable.
“Having William by my side is a great source of comfort. The love, support, and kindness you all show me mean a lot to both of us,” she said, adding that she needs time, space, and privacy to complete her treatment.
