The rapper addresses backlash after many took the social media to criticize his appearance at the pro-Trump event celebrating cryptocurrency.
Snoop Dogg has sparked controversy once again, this time for his decision to headline Donald Trump’s “Crypto Ball” in Washington, D.C. The event, held on Friday, was a pro-Trump gathering focused on promoting the former president’s push for cryptocurrency and plans to integrate digital assets into the U.S. financial system.
Sharing the spotlight with Rick Ross, Soulja Boy, and Nelly, Snoop Dogg was one of the evening’s main attractions. However, his involvement quickly ignited a storm of criticism on social media.
Many called out the West Coast rap legend for what they saw as a contradiction, referencing his vocal opposition to Trump in the past. In particular, critics highlighted Snoop’s 2017 music video, which famously featured a clown resembling Trump portrayed in an unflattering light.
Snoop is just unbothered and unfazed
Snoop Dogg remained unfazed by the backlash surrounding his performance at Donald Trump’s “Crypto Ball.” In response to the wave of criticism, the rapper took to social media, re-sharing an Instagram story from fellow performer Rick Ross and adding his own caption: “Got a real Crip up in the Crypto Ball, bang bang.”
Event footage captured Snoop in high spirits, appearing relaxed as he flashed peace signs and sang along to Bob Marley’s classic hit, “Three Little Birds.” His carefree demeanor made it clear that he wasn’t dwelling on the negativity, even as fans expressed their disappointment online.
Social media users didn’t hold back their frustration. One person commented, “I have deleted all Snoop Dogg songs from my playlists… I will not listen to his music after he performed for the traitors.”
Another remarked, “Even Snoop Dogg bent knee to Donald Trump. Never thought I’d see that.” Despite the outcry, Snoop’s response suggested he was unbothered by the controversy.
