VIDEO/ Last minute penalty? In Ukraine furious: ‘They sent Italy to the EURO to make Ceferin happy’

Ukraine-Italy ends amid controversy: the Chelsea forward falls in the penalty area after contact with Cristante at the 93′, but Gil Manzano allows the game to continue.

Italy secures the ticket for the 2024 Euros, where it will defend the title. However, there was some controversy at the end of the game. In the 93rd minute, Ukraine vehemently protested the decision which negated a penalty for a supposed foul in the penalty area by Cristante on Mudryk.

In Ukraine they were not happy at all about this decision, going that far as saying that it was all UEFA’s fault because the President Ceferin wants to see the Italian team qualified.

But the referee, the Spanish Gil Manzano, did not point to the penalty spot after the contact. He was not called back by VAR and evidently the goal stood. But there surely was a silent check.
