Twisted messages: The disturbing inscriptions found on ammo used in Charlie Kirk’s assassination

New revelations from investigators have shed light on the disturbing mindset of Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Authorities revealed that Robinson engraved bizarre and hateful messages on the bullet casings used in the fatal shooting. The inscriptions combined political extremism, internet meme culture, and unsettling taunts.

“Bella Ciao” and Anti-Fascist Slogans

One cartridge recovered in the woods near Utah Valley University was etched with the words: “Oh, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao Ciao Ciao.” The phrase comes from an Italian anti-fascist song sung by resistance fighters during World War II.

Another casing carried the chilling inscription: “Hey fascist! Catch!” which was a direct taunt seemingly aimed at Kirk, who was struck in the neck while speaking to students in Orem, Utah.

Internet Jokes Turned Deadly

Investigators also revealed that Robinson blended dark humor and online meme culture into his twisted plot. One casing read: “If you read this, you are gay lmao.” Another bore the infamous copypasta phrase: “*Notices bulge* OwO what’s this?” — a crude internet joke often circulated on forums.

Governor Spencer Cox said another casing carried arrow symbols, up, right, and three down. Investigators believe was a reference to a move sequence in the video game Helldivers, where bombs are unleashed.

A Plotting Trail

Officials also linked Robinson’s alleged planning to online chatrooms. On Discord, he reportedly discussed retrieving a rifle from a “drop point.” After the attack, investigators say Robinson told online associates that he had changed clothes to evade police.

From small-town Utah to the center of a national manhunt.

Robinson was arrested around 11 p.m. Thursday night in St. George, near Zion National Park, about 250 miles southwest of the Orem campus where the shooting occurred. He lived with his family in nearby Washington, Utah

Robinson’s weapon was identified as a Mauser model 9830 .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle with a scope, the same gun found wrapped in a towel and abandoned in nearby woods.

From Meme to Murder

The twisted combination of political ideology and internet culture painted a disturbing picture of Robinson’s state of mind. What might have once been inside jokes or online taunts, investigators say, were turned into messages of violence, engraved on bullets meant to kill.

Once a scholarship student, now facing capital murder charges.

A Nation Shaken

Kirk, just 31, was fatally struck by a single bullet in front of a crowd of students. He leaves behind his wife, Erika Frantzve, and their two young children, a daughter aged 3 and a son just 16 months.

President Donald Trump confirmed the arrest Friday, calling Kirk “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk” and ordering American flags lowered to half-staff in his honor.

As the inscriptions reveal the twisted psyche of the alleged assassin, the nation is left grappling with a chilling reality. A beloved conservative voice has been silenced. The crime scene is littered with bullets marked not just by metal, but by hate, memes, and a warped sense of symbolism.
