Tuchel’s words ahead of the clash against Lazio
“After the 3-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich is aiming to bounce back in the Champions League. The German team will face our Lazio in the round of 16, and ahead of the first leg match, Thomas Tuchel spoke to Sky Sport and in press conferences.
Speaking to Sky, the German coach said, “It will be tough match against Lazio, who are a great team. Sarri is a very good coach, I’ve followed him in all his previous experiences at Napoli and Chelsea. I really like his style of football. To reach the final, we have to take it step by step, especially after the bad loss against Leverkusen. The first step will be to beat Lazio.
Tuchel continued in the press conference: “I would like to say if I have decided on the formation we’ll play, but I won’t. It’s normal for me to change formations now especially after a loss. Different teams require different approaches.”
“Lazio is a disciplined and cohesive team, with a strong pressing game and excellent defense. Sarri’s style emphasizes tight and coordinated passing, so it’ll be an intense match, especially with the fans behind them.”
“We need to play with freedom and lightness. Last Saturday, we had an aggressive approach that prevented us from getting to attack. We know exactly what we’ll do tomorrow. After several defeats, we’ve always shown our reaction. We’ve been playing at a high level for a long time. I’m convinced we have the cards in hand for a reaction, and it’s a good moment to challenge ourselves in another competition. Tomorrow will be 50-50.
