The Frenchman: “Dimarco is the one I bonded with immediately, Acerbi is an incredible defender.”
More than the numbers (6 goals and 6 assists in Serie A + 1 goal and 1 assist in the Champions League), a physical power combined with refined technique, but what stands out about Marcus Thuram is his strong connection with the Inter world. It’s almost as if he didn’t just arrive in Milan last summer but grew up directly at the Pinetina.
After another outstanding performance against Udinese, the French forward was featured on Frog Talks, a podcast with the former Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia. This was an opportunity to talk about both on and off-field aspects, revealing some details about his first half-season with Inter.
“The one I really hit it off with from the beginning is Dimash (Dimarco), he’s hilarious and we tag along very well. I have a great relationship with Calha (Calhanoglu) as well. Arna (Arnautovic), along with the Basto (Bastoni) and Bare (Barella) area also people that I consider close. But to be honest, now I have a great relationship with everyone.”
“We have a great group, and you can see it from the outside. We’re all more or less the same age, and we all stand up to celebrate. Even the substitutes always join us. We are like a big family.”
Having faced many defenders in Italy already, one in particular has left an impression on Thuram: “When facing fast attackers, in Italy, they make the mistake of giving them space. One player who does something incredible every time is Acerbi, whom I knew but not as I do now. When I turn, he always has his hands on me. If he’s close, the attacker can never start running. He is the best defender I have faced”
When asked about being the second most decisive player in Serie A, the frenchman said: “With Lautaro, we work well together. He’s a fantastic player with incredible finishing skills, Playing with him makes things easier. I really enjoy it.”
Thuram on his choice to join Inter and not PSG: “Mbappรฉ knows very well why I came to Inter and not PSG. I never asked Inter for guarantees on playing time; I came here to work hard and earn my place. It was a metter of feelings. Inter was already there two years ago and always saw me as a number 9, so it was a clear choice.“
