There are superhero battles—and then there’s Lynda Carter wrestling a gorilla on Wonder Woman.
Only in the 1970s could TV give us a scene this gloriously over-the-top: the Amazon princess, in full star-spangled glory, facing off against a furry foe that looked like it wandered out of a costume shop clearance bin. And yet, Carter made it work.
With a perfectly arched brow and that signature Wonder Woman twirl, she treated the encounter as seriously as if she were battling a world-class supervillain, giving fans both action and unintentional comedy gold.
Today, the gorilla fight stands as one of those campy gems you can’t help but love. It’s goofy, it’s outrageous, and it’s exactly why people still revisit the show decades later. Carter had a rare gift—she could fight a man in a gorilla suit and still look every inch the glamorous superhero.
