Kristaps Porzingis, will miss the start of the next season due to offseason surgery to repair a torn retinaculum and a dislocated posterior tibialis tendon.
This surgery is expected to sideline him for five to six months, meaning a return in late November to late December. The Celtics will likely proceed with caution to ensure he is fit for another Finals run.
Porzingis also had to withdraw from competing with his home nation, Latvia, in the upcoming Olympic qualifiers due to his injury. He hurt his ankle during Game 2 of the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks and missed the following two games.
He returned in Game 5, scoring five points and grabbing one rebound in 16 minutes, contributing to the Celtics’ 106-88 victory, which secured their 18th NBA championship. Over the season, Porzingis averaged 20 points and seven rebounds in 57 games for the Celtics.
During the 2024 NBA Finals, Porzingis had notable performances, averaging 12.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks in three games. In Game 1, he scored 20 points with six rebounds, significantly impacting the Celtics’ win against the Mavericksโ.
