Taylor Swift’s 11th studio release, The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology (TTPD), has quickly established itself as a record-breaking giant in the music industry.
Released just hours ago, the album has already overtaken Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter as the biggest debut of 2024 on Spotify, accumulating more streams within its first nine hours than Beyoncé’s album did in its entire first week, with the latter achieving 300.41 million on-demand official streams.
On iTunes, TTPD secured the number one spot in over 60 countries shortly after its release. This milestone is accompanied by another historic achievement on US Apple Music, where every track from TTPD entered the top 25—a first for any album in the platform’s history.
The album’s lead single, “Fortnight,” featuring Post Malone, also made an impressive debut, clinching the top position in the United States, the United Kingdom, and 33 other countries on Apple Music. The track is on track to surpass all of Swift’s previous singles in achieving the highest number of number-one spots globally.
In addition to its success on streaming platforms, The Tortured Poets Department has set a new record on Amazon Music for the biggest album debut. The album is also projected to reach a monumental sales milestone, with estimates suggesting it could sell up to 2 million copies in its first week in the US alone.
Furthermore, Swift has also surpassed Spotify’s record for the most pre-saved countdown page album in the history of the streaming service. Industry experts, including those from VegasInsider.com, speculate that TTPD may break additional records, potentially surpassing the benchmarks set by Swift’s previous album, Midnights. This includes the most streamed album in a single day and over a week on Spotify, where Midnights held records with 184.695 million and 785.253 million streams, respectively.
