Taylor Swift is taking no chances when it comes to her safety, or her peace of mind.
The pop icon was granted a temporary restraining order this week against Brian Jason Wagner, a 45-year-old man from Colorado. He allegedly showed up multiple times at her Los Angeles home and made disturbing claims. One of those claims was that Swift is the mother of his child.
The filing, reviewed by Billboard, reveals that Swift asked the court to intervene after Wagner refused to leave her property and insisted on seeing her in person. He allegedly arrived once carrying a glass bottle that “could have been used as a weapon”, according to Swift’s sworn statement.
“The fact that Mr. Wagner has determined where I reside and visited the property several times, refusing to leave and claiming to need access, makes me fear for my safety and the safety of my family,” Swift wrote.
The Los Angeles Superior Court signed off on the order Monday, requiring Wagner to stay at least 100 yards away from Swift and her home. A full hearing is scheduled for June 30, where a more permanent order may be considered.
“Not True” — Swift Shuts Down Wild Claims
According to the filing, Wagner claimed he and Swift were in a romantic relationship, that he lived at her residence, and that she was the mother of his son. Swift made it crystal clear: “Not true.”
The Eras Tour superstar said she never gave Wagner her address, and doesn’t share it publicly. Yet he somehow obtained it. Аnd, even more alarmingly, illegally acquired a California driver’s license listing her home as his own.
The situation escalated last month when Swift’s team ran a background check after additional visits. They uncovered that Wagner had a criminal record and sent “lengthy communications” from jail claiming a relationship with her.
Swift described the man’s behavior as “disconnected from reality.”
A Familiar — and Chilling — Pattern
Sadly, this isn’t Swift’s first encounter with stalkers.
In 2017, a man named Mohammed Jaffar repeatedly broke into her NYC building and flooded her team with messages. In 2018, another stalker, Roger Alvarado, used her shower and slept in her bed. That same year, yet another man was caught driving 1,000+ miles to her LA home with a knife, rope, gloves, and ammo in his car.
Swift, ever proactive, has since used facial recognition tech at concerts to help identify potential threats.
Still Breaking Records, Still Defending Her Space
While dealing with this disturbing episode behind the scenes, Swift continues to dominate on the professional front. Her Eras Tour wrapped in December, becoming the first tour to earn more than $1 billion and then $2 billion in revenue. She also scored a major win by reclaiming the rights to her first six albums.
Through it all, Swift remains focused, resilient, and ready to protect what she’s built, including her safety.
