However, they quickly found their rhythm, ultimately securing a decisive 110-84 victory over Nikola Jokic and his teammates at Pierre Mauroy Stadium.
Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum remained on the bench throughout the match, even though he was reportedly in good health. Additionally, Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry drew some criticism on social media for a late-game decision.
Curry’s late triple in a blowout victory
With the shot clock turned off and the United States comfortably leading Serbia 107-84, Stephen Curry made a surprising move. Instead of running out the clock, Curry chose to attempt a 3-point shot with just 6.3 seconds remaining.
This decision sparked mixed reactions on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Some fans labeled Curry’s late-game shot as “disrespectful,” arguing that he should have let the clock expire. However, many others praised his performance, highlighting his 11 points in 21 minutes, including three successful 3-pointers.
Despite the controversy, his contribution was a key element in the United States’ triumphant start to their Olympic campaign.
