Spalletti returns to Inter… as a visitor: Azzurri under observation. A special message for Barella.

The national team’s head coach attended Inzaghi’s team session in Appiano Gentile, Ausilio was also present. Then, a special greeting with many Inter players.

On Nicolò Barella‘s 27th birthday, there was a special guest at Appiano Gentile: Luciano Spalletti, the head coach of the Italian national team, of which the Sardinian midfielder is a key player for his Azzurri, both now and in the future. Spalletti watched Inter’s training session at the Pinetina and greeted all the players, including those who are part of the squad qualified for Euro 2024, which kicks off next June.

In addition to Barella, Spalletti also met Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni, and Federico Dimarco, along with Matteo Darmian, who has returned to the national team setup since last spring. Of course, Davide Frattesi didn’t participate in training due to a minor hamstring injury, expected to keep him out for at least a week. Sporting director Piero Ausilio was also present at training, while Dario Baccin was in Greece for the bitter Youth League playoff of Cristian Chivu’s Primavera team, eliminated on penalties by Olympiacos in Athens.

The ex Inter coach also met some other familiar faces like Lautaro Martinez whom he launched in the Serie A back in the 2018/19 season, and Stefan De Vrij the only players left from that season. The coach also had the chance to meet some of Inter’s bigger stars this season like Marcus Thuram and Hakan Calhanoglu.
