We are preparing as if he will be available, and he will travel with us,” said the Magpies’ coach, leaving the possibility open for Tonali to take the field tomorrow.

Howe will be able to field Tonali against Wolverhampton, despite his plea deal and a 10-month suspension. The reason? The disciplinary action, although already decided, still needs approval from the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) before being validated by UEFA and subsequently applied to all competitions. The bureaucratic process will take a few more days, which is why Tonali will be eligible to play in Newcastle’s upcoming match.
