Scandal over a Dress with Christ’s Image at Cannes: Actress Clashes with Security Member

A Few Days After the Incident with American Singer Kelly Rowland, the Same Security Member Clashed with Dominican Actress, but This Time It Was More Intense

Famous model and actress Masijel Taveras walked the red carpet at the closing of the 77th Cannes Festival yesterday, but she won’t be leaving with happy memories.

She was pushed off the famous steps in front of the Festival and Congress Palace by the same security member who had clashed with singer Kelly Rowland a few days earlier.

When the security guard tried to move the Dominican actress, Taveras became so furious that she pushed the guard.

Everything happened after Masijel Taveras tried to spread out the train of her dress, called “Christ,” which was almost five meters long and featured an image of Jesus Christ. While Masijel was adjusting her dress and posing for photos on the steps, a security guard got into an argument with her and then physically tried to move her.

Masijel Taveras was wearing a dress by the brand Giannina Azar, with Christ’s portrait hand-painted by Jan Paez.

Rules of Conduct on the Cannes Festival Steps

It’s unclear why the security guard was rushing Kelly Rowland and Masijel Taveras at the risk of causing an incident, but it’s known that celebrities usually don’t stay long on the Cannes Festival red carpet.

The protocol dictates that a new group of celebrities arrives only after the previous group has finished posing for photos and entered the Palace, stopping at several designated spots for posing.

Then they climb the 24 steps of Cannes, pausing briefly to wave from the top, where they are greeted by festival directors.

“It’s funny because there are so many rules,” director Yorgos Lanthimos once revealed. “You have to walk in a line. They tell you when to turn, how to turn. It’s a very fun, cheerful, funny, and unusually strange situation.”

However, it’s not known if there is a specific time celebrities are allowed to spend on the red carpet or if certain personalities and brands have priority.
