Savannah Guthrie’s husband speaks out amid search for missing mother-in-law Nancy

Michael Feldman has spoken publicly for the first time as the search continues for his missing mother-in-law, Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared from her home in Tucson, Arizona.

In a brief comment to Page Six, Feldman said he does not “have anything new to report.” He added that he is “just being responsive” to inquiries but feels “mostly unhelpful” as the investigation unfolds.

He also expressed gratitude for the media’s “thoughtfulness” during what has become an increasingly distressing time for the family.

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen Saturday night after returning home from dinner with relatives. Authorities now believe she did not leave her residence on her own.

Investigation shifts toward possible abduction

According to statements made during a February 2 news conference, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators are treating the situation as more than a missing-person case. “Right now, we don’t see this as a search mission as much as we do a crime scene,” Nanos stated.

Nancy had gone to dinner with family members, including her daughter Annie Guthrie, and was dropped off at her Catalina Foothills home around 9:30 or 9:45 p.m. The following morning, a parishioner contacted the family after Nancy did not attend church, which was described as unusual. Family members went to her home and called 911 at approximately 12:15 p.m.

Nanos told Us Weekly that Annie did not observe any “red flags” in her mother’s behavior during the evening. However, investigators later determined that there were signs Nancy “did not leave on her own.”

Law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times that blood was discovered inside the home and there were indications of forced entry, though officials have not confirmed whose blood was found.

“She is very limited in her mobility, we know she didn’t just walk out of there,” Nanos said, emphasizing that evidence at the scene suggests she was likely taken against her will.

Family appeals for prayers and support

Savannah Guthrie has stepped away from her hosting duties to remain with her family as the search continues. She later shared an emotional message on Instagram urging followers to “raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment.”

Page Six also reported that Savannah will no longer host the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremony alongside Terry Gannon, citing an NBC insider who said there is “no way” she would travel while the situation remains unresolved.

Colleague Jenna Bush Hager addressed the situation on-air, describing Nancy’s “incredible bond” with Savannah and saying she has become “a second mom to me and to all of us.”

Authorities have indicated there is currently no evidence suggesting a ransom situation, though Sheriff Nanos told CNN investigators will “never rule it out.”

The investigation remains active as family members continue to wait for answers.
