The Biancocelesti coach after the victory over Celtic in the Champions League: ‘The difference in performance between Italy and Europe is incomprehensible.’
Maurizio Sarri expressed satisfaction with Lazio’s victory over Celtic in the Champions League but now demands a response from his team in the league: “Tonight, the pitch provided the answers I wanted, this is the Lazio that I want to see – the words of the Biancocelesti coach to Sky. However, we are performing well in Europe and not in the league, unlike last year. I expected this response tonight; now I expect responses in the league as well. This difference in performance is difficult to explain. I guess, the atmosphere of the Champions League gives us energy, but it should be like this in the Serie A too.”
The decision to initially keep Immobile and Pedro on the bench was surprising, but later proved to be a decisive move: “Some changes were necessary, and we also have to consider that from here to January, we play every 3 days. Obviously, having a weapon like Ciro on the bench is an important resource. He scored two goals with his left foot, imagine that.”
Finally, a comment on Isaksen’s good performance: “The lad is young and comes from the Danish league; he doesn’t know the language, has changed his way of training and eating; it will take time. But you can see the potential, and he can do even more.”
