The Biancocelesti coach, after the loss to Milan: “We are not a big team. Inter is the favorite to win the league but it is an open battle”
Milan wins against Lazio at San Siro 2-0 with goals from Pulisic and Okafor. The Biancocelesti fail to maintain their winning streak after the game against Torino. In the post-match interview, Maurizio Sarri talked about the match and more. He also expressed his frustration with the football authorities due to the excessive number of matches.
Sarri and the Schedule “Lazio is a victim of a deadly schedule; we lost the first two games against beatable teams. But in all the years I’ve been in Serie A, I’ve never seen any team play three away matches in a row against Napoli, Juve, and now Milan. The standings are not to be looked at now; we need to pull ourselves up, but that requires months of matches, not just a few games.”
Sarri’s Outburst Against FICG: On Lazio Style Channel, Maurizio Sarri continued to speak after the Milan-Lazio match: “The Champions League? You have to consider the conditions of the players who are playing every three days. Then there are breaks for international matches, and the press says, ‘Now they can rest.’ But they keep playing every three games.
“I hope the League, FIFA, UEFA, and FICG all take responsibility. There have been at least 50 muscular injuries today, and I’m completely indignant with the FICG for allowing their members to be pushed to the limit; it seems rather ugly.”
Sarri and Lazio’s European Goals “I don’t know what we can aim for in Europe; the only thing we can do is get through the group stage… Maybe we’ll have some luck in the draw. The Champions League is hard to predict, although, in the end, the same teams often make it until late. But we can do well in the league; the Champions League is a luxury for us; we are not a big team.”
Sarri and Serie A: Favorite Teams “In January, Milan was struggling. Today’s Milan, on the other hand, is more energetic. In my opinion, Inter is the strongest team, but Juventus can have their say because they don’t have European competitions. . I see a four-way battle, including Milan and Napoli too, but Inter is the strongest.”
