Roma, Bonucci is getting closer: the dressing room has reportedly given the green light.

The defender wants to leave Union Berlin and could return to Serie A to strengthen Mourinho’s squad.

Leonardo Bonucci is ready to return to Serie A and wear the Roma jersey. His experience in Germany with Union Berlin has been a disaster so far, and the former Juventus captain has not hidden his desire for a change. Roma, facing a defensive crisis since the start of the season, has been in contact with the player’s entourage for some time to assess his willingness to transfer. Even within the dressing room, there seems to be approval for welcoming an important player given his past.

THE DRESSING ROOM

The rumor was reported by Corriere dello Sport. While Roma fans have their reasons not to like this transfer, the Giallorossi squad necessitates immediate reinforcements, especially with Ndicka‘s upcoming departure to the Africa Cup of Nations. Support for Bonucci in this regard has come from the most important Roma players.

Bonucci’s main sponsor would be Paulo Dybala, who has shared the dressing room with the defender in numerous battles on the field. Still, the Argentine is not alone. Even Mancini, Pellegrini, and Spinazzola – the Italian national players – recognize Bonucci’s leadership and would have no problem welcoming him.

THE DEAL

If Bonucci is not satisfied with his experience at Union Berlin, the same can be said for the German club, which expected a different impact from the experienced Italian center-back. However, Roma cannot spend in the market, and a solution must be found with the Berlin club that satisfies everyone. This could be a straightforward loan, which would require Union to renew Bonucci’s expiring contract, or an immediate resolution of the contract, which is what Bonucci is aiming for.
