Hollywood heartthrob Richard Gere made headlines when he left it all behind for love — but now it looks like their dream European escape might be hitting pause.
In a twist no one saw coming, Richard Gere, 75, could soon be swapping Spanish siestas for American summer camps as wife Alejandra Silva, 41 confirmed the family is preparing to head back to the U.S.
Gere, beloved for his iconic roles in Pretty Woman and Runaway Bride, sold off his $10.75 million Connecticut ranch last year and relocated with Alejandra and their two sons — Alexander (6) and James (5) — to Madrid, where Alejandra was born. At the time, fans swooned over the ultimate grand gesture of love.
But now Alejandra is setting the record straight. “It was always the plan to come back,” she revealed to Daily Mail, adding that she’s currently “happier than ever.”
Back to the U.S. — for Summer Camp?
The family is reportedly headed stateside as early as this summer, not for red carpets, but for something far more down-to-earth: children’s summer camps.
“We just have to balance life here and there,” Alejandra explained. “My family missed me, and I missed them. But we miss the U.S. too — so we go and come back.”
And it’s not just Alejandra feeling nostalgic. Gere’s oldest son, Homer Gere, from his first marriage to actress Carey Lowell, is thrilled about the move. “I miss them a lot. I hope they keep coming back,” he shared.
“Six Years for Six Years” — Richard’s Love Rule
In a rare public comment, Richard once shared the couple’s arrangement:
“She spent six years living in my world — now it’s only fair I spend at least six years in hers.”
But with the family already planning a return to the U.S., fans are asking: Is the European chapter closing sooner than expected?
Whether they’re living in Madrid or Manhattan, one thing is clear: Richard Gere is still the leading man in his own real-life love story.
