Retegui ignites the ‘mercato’: Inter is ahead of everyone, but Napoli now is also in the race.

The Italian-Argentine striker, who has scored twice for the national team, is in Marotta’s sights but De Laurentiis’ club also likes him

Mateo Retegui, the young Argentine striker who currently plays for Tigre on loan from Boca Juniors, has drawn interest from several Italian clubs, including Inter Milan and Napoli.

Despite being co-owned by Tigre and Boca Juniors, the 21-year-old’s value has skyrocketed to a reported 15-20 million euros, and both clubs are eager to wait for an auction to maximize their earnings.

Inter Milan is the most interested Italian club, with sporting director Piero Ausilio and his deputy Dario Baccin having followed Retegui for at least a year. They have even gathered information about the player’s off-field habits and family background.

The Nerazzurri plan to purchase the forward to help him develop in Italy without the pressure of starting immediately. With Inter’s current winger Joaquin Correa likely to depart in the summer, the club hoped to replace him with Retegui at a reasonable price, but his recent rise in value has complicated their plans.

Lately De Laurentis is determined to ‘neutralize’ Inters interess, with this years Champion to be strongly interested to bring Retegui and strengthen the Azzurris attack.

Despite the intense competition, all the clubs are aware that the bidding war for Retegui’s services will be intense and the price could continue to rise until the end of the season.

Inter Milan has an advantage due to the presence of former Argentine star Javier Zanetti as vice president and current player Lautaro Martinez as a close friend of Retegui.

Nevertheless, the young striker’s future remains uncertain, and it will be interesting to see which club will ultimately secure his signature.
