Remember 80s icon Heather Thomas? Her daughter India Rose is her mini-me

During the 1980s, Heather Thomas was one of television’s most recognizable stars. Best known for playing stuntwoman Jody Banks on the action series The Fall Guy, she became a pop-culture icon of the decade.

Her posters decorated dorm rooms and garages, and her on-screen chemistry with Lee Majors helped make the show a hit.

But while Thomas was a major television figure during that era, her life eventually moved in a different direction—one focused less on Hollywood and more on family, writing, and raising her daughter, India Rose.

Heather Thomas: A Star of the 1980s

Heather Thomas began working in television as a teenager, even hosting a celebrity interview show on NBC before pursuing acting professionally. After appearing in small TV roles in the late 1970s, her big breakthrough came in 1981 when she was cast as Jody Banks in The Fall Guy. The series ran for five seasons and made her a household name.

Despite her success, the pressures of fame eventually pushed her to step away from the industry. In the 1990s she gradually reduced her acting work, later explaining that intense stalking incidents and the desire to focus on family played a major role in her decision to leave the spotlight.

Instead, Thomas shifted her energy toward writing and political activism while building a life away from Hollywood’s constant attention.

Heather Thomas married entertainment attorney Harry “Skip” Brittenham in 1992. In June 2000, the couple welcomed their daughter, India Rose Brittenham.

Growing up in a family connected to both Hollywood and the legal world, India Rose experienced a very different childhood from the one her mother had as a young star. Thomas had already stepped back from acting by the time her daughter was born, allowing her to focus on raising her family in a more private environment.

India Rose also grew up alongside two older half-sisters from her father’s previous relationships, making the Brittenham household a blended family.

Unlike many children of celebrities, India Rose has largely stayed out of the public spotlight. Thomas has consistently kept her daughter’s life private, choosing not to push her toward acting or entertainment. As a result, very little of India’s personal life has been shared publicly.

A Life Focused on Family

For Heather Thomas, motherhood became one of the defining chapters of her life. After years of fame and the pressures that came with it, she chose to prioritize family over Hollywood.

She and her husband were also known for hosting political and charitable gatherings at their home in Santa Monica, bringing together activists, political figures, and philanthropists.

Thomas has remained active in advocacy work over the years, including serving on advisory boards for organizations such as the Rape Foundation and the Amazon Conservation Team.

Her husband Skip Brittenham, a powerful entertainment attorney who represented many major Hollywood figures, died in 2025 at the age of 83.
